Project Description: After fire struck their existing facility in Americus, AIMTRAC engaged LRA Constructors, Inc. (LRA) to provide design-build services for construction of a new facility in Smithville. These services included design and construction for all architectural, structural, plumbing, mechanical and electrical related work. The project consisted of site development of roughly 13 acres at the corner of Georgia Highway 308 and U.S. Highway 19, installation of well and septic systems, construction of 21,476 SF sales/service building, 2000 SF storage building and 2000 SF wash building. The main sales/service building contains a roughly 9,524 SF equipment service area with two 5-ton bridge cranes, 24’-0” wide electric-operated overhead doors, compressed air systems and electronic fluid management system (FMS) for oil and hydraulic fluid. The sales area utilized a unique architectural approach with exposed structure, colored fabric duct and stained concrete floors. Additional site improvements included fencing, landscaping and irrigation and bi-level off-loading ramp. As design-build general contractor, LRA utilized its self-perform services for this project on all foundation and pre-engineered metal building work which played a major role in overcoming approximately 9 inches of rain in the first month of construction to obtaining a Certificate of Occupancy in less than 8 months.
